Where does Horse Play conduct these experiences?
Horse Play currently offers services at a beautiful farm in Baroda, Michigan that offers the ideal private setting for equine assisted learning and unstructured interaction with nature. Plans for our permanent facility in Buchanan, Michigan are under development.
Do you operate year round?
Yes, we hold outdoor sessions during the months of April through October in order to take full advantage of the natural, outdoor settings. We utilize other months of the year for consulting and support services, either at Horse Play's administrative office in St. Joseph, Michigan or at client facilities.
How many people can participate?
Because of the interactive nature of working with horses, we keep generally groups between 1 and 15 individuals. This enables each person to maximize the opportunities available to connect with the horses. We can accommodate larger groups in other nature-based experiences.
What shall I wear?
While a portion of the experience will be indoors, you will spend much of the time outdoors or in an arena with horses. We recommend comfortable, closed-toe shoes or boots functional for outside use. Dress in layers in order to assure your comfort both indoors and out.
What if I have never been around horses before?
The horses are a part of the facilitation team and their role is to provide feedback in accomplishing your goals. All work done with the horses is on the ground with no riding involved, and all interaction is contained within a safe, controlled environment. At least two facilitators are present at all times. There is no need for prior experience with horses in order to participate and benefit from equine assisted learning or psychotherapy.
What if we just want a fun day out of the office?
Horse Play's team building experiences are customized to meet your organization's needs. If a recreational day is your goal, we will work to create an enjoyable, engaging and memorable experience for your team.
